The two-time US Open champion and former world no. 1 Tracy Austin believes that Serena Williams will win two more Grand Slam titles, at least. The Wimbledon final loss to Angelique Kerber proved that the American still needs to improve to be competitive against all the players, but Austin is confident for the future.
'I think she’ll get 24 and I have no doubt she’ll get 25 as well,' Austin told Wimbledon.com. 'It’s just that she needs more time. Think about that, 14th match in a year-and-a-half, you can’t replicate match play in practice.
I think it was a step too far, too soon. Sometimes we expect so much from Serena because she has delivered so much in the past.' Winning the 25th Major would also mean to overcome Margaret Court's 24 titles record. 'She’s going to get fitter,' Austin assured.
'This honestly may make her even more determined, because I know Serena, and she was 23-6 in major finals. She is not used to losing in major finals and that’s going to sting badly.' ALSO READ: Roger Federer and wife Mirka enjoy holidays in Ibiza
