Alexis Ohanian openly spoke about his relationship with wife Serena Williams many times in the last year. They got married each other in November 2017 after becoming parents of daughter Olympia. Speaking to USA Today, Ohanian commented on the keys of their great and stable marriage.
'Regardless’re in a relationship with, I think it’s important to make sure your partner feels supported. And I know in this society, there’s probably a lot of dudes — and speaking to hetero relationships — there’s probably a lot of guys who would feel threatened in a situation with a partner who is extremely talented and successful.
It seems kind of absurd to me, though, because all of that success and all that greatness is something that you should be championing. There are so many things that a man might brag about in their partner — why shouldn’t their greatness or success be one of those things? Why shouldn’t it be one of those things that they’re proud of and supportive of?' Then he got asked an intriguing and interesting question.
'You’re going to have to ask her what the most romantic thing is that I’ve ever done. Billboards are awesome, trips to Italy are awesome, but the things that have the biggest impact are really just showing up and being there and being supportive and doing my job.
Taking care of her and our baby after they showed up and after all the trauma she went through post-childbirth, I think the most romantic thing I’ve ever done was just showing up and doing my job as a husband and a father.
It’s sad the bar is that low, but I actually think it is. And with everyone sort of optimizing for an Instagram post, (they’re) missing out on the fundamentals, which is just being there.' ALSO READ: Toni Nadal upset about Roger Federer: 'Tennis is his only obsession'
