Serena Williams explains reasons behind her stellar 2018 US Open outfit

Serena Williams will be on the spotlight again at this year's US Open. One reason is that she is one of the favorites to win the title. There is also her outfit which has caught everyone's attention. Serena will wear a white outfit at Flushing Meadows designed by Virgil Abloh.

Commenting on the reasons behind this choice, Serena, as quoted by CNBC, said: 'This year [Nike] had this amazing idea to partner with Virgil and I can't even say I came up with this. Nike has been a brand that's been able to support my career and to back me and also make me look good on the court.

It's really important to have that cross-fit brand.' For Abloh, it was natural to work with Serena and Nike. 'My interest in fashion isn't sort of about fashion, it's about people,' he explained. '[Williams] is beyond an amazing athlete, she's a muse of a generation, so the clothes in a way design themselves.' Serena had her first training session on the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday under her coach Patrick Mouratoglou's eyes.

The 36-year-old will seek her seventh title there. She won her first title there in 1999 beating the Swiss Martina Hingis and the last one in 2014 defeating the Dane Caroline Wozniacki. Serena will also look for her 24th Grand Slam title, which would allow her to equal Margaret Court's record.
