In an interview to Sky Sport Kristina Mladenovic previewed the upcoming Wimbledon final between Serena Williams and Simona Halep. The French player said: "Last year I lost to Serena on the Centre Court in the third round.
When she plays so powerful on serve and so aggressive, which is the best on Tour, it's very difficult to beat her. Halep can win it, in the longer rallies she is one of the best girls in the world. She has been playing great over those two weeks, so many tough matches."
Halep herself added: "I have special emotions. On grass I never played my best tennis but this year I felt better and I made progresses match by match. I face a big champion, I have nothing to lose, I just want to enjoy and give my best."
Halep also recalled her 2014 Wimbledon semifinal loss to Eugenie Bouchard: "That match was really tough because I was not 100% after that injury. But I'm not taking the negative from that match. I just took the positive.
I was able to do semis five years ago. Now being in the same position, I knew that I have a better chance because I'm a better person. That's why I was very confident today. It's very special this moment. To be able to play Wimbledon final, it's pretty amazing. I will enjoy for sure. Doesn't matter what surface is."
