Bianca Andreescu: 'Facing Serena Williams in US Open final was a dream'

In an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Bianca Andreescu looked back at her US Open success. The Canadian player said: “Oh man, it feels so good. I made history in Canada — I’m truly blessed.

Everything has been pretty hectic ever since (Indian Wells title earlier this year), so I never really got the chance to let everything soak in. The last year has been pretty crazy — I was going through a really bad back injury, so now being able to hold this trophy is something really special.

Playing against Serena in the final, I’ve been dreaming about this moment for a pretty long time. This is honestly crazy”. Andreescu believes that having already faced Williams at the Rogers Cup last month helped her in approaching the US Open final: “I got a sense of how that was during Toronto in the finals, so I think I was able to control my emotions a bit better."

David Ferrer commented on what makes Roger Federer tough to beat: "The rhythm turnaround is Roger's biggest weapon in our matches. He just did not allow me to play tennis. Ask any player and he will tell you how bothering he is.

With Nadal and Djokovic, I always played tennis and I lost just because they were better than me. With Federer, everything was different. I never felt comfortable on the court. I headed into the court and I was already aware of what would have happened in the next two hours."
