Denmark's Holger Rune, one of the top juniors in the world, has been part of the pre-season training camp organized by Patrick Mouratoglou in Florida this week and says he has had a great time playing with the likes of Williams and American teen Coco Gauff.
According to Ekstra Bladet, Rune says, "It was nice to work out with Serena, who was really sweet. We didn't play for points but drove through some different exercises. She said before the training that she had seen me play and that I looked so good that she had wanted to work out with me.
There has been a lot of training and different activities. It's fun. I enjoy being in heat and training hard. It is a really good arrangement. These are really good training partners, so there is a lot of good tennis and lots of great people around me.
It's cool to socialize with people who share the same high ambitions as me." The camp with Williams and Gauff is the latest in a list of high profile training sessions for Rune. In November, he was invited by the ATP Tour to be a sparring partner for the men at the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals.
"I think it's been a fantastic year with lots of good experiences and victories. I have given the maximum effort on the training ground, and it has been a bonus that I could continue to perform, but I still did not think at the start of the year that I would win a grand slam (French Open juniors) And the season finale and finish as the world ranking number one."
