Serena Williams has been working alongside Venus Williams’ design firm to build her dream home in Miami, in a place that is minutes away from her sister and their parents. After three years of renovating and decorating the new home, Serena gave an exclusive tour to Architectural Digest magazine.
“Welcome to my home. I’ve been designing this house for a really long time.
I actually worked with my sister Venus – she has an interior design company called V Starr Interiors. Most homes have formal living rooms, so I was like ‘What if I had a formal living room, but instead of it being a living room, I call it an art gallery?’ So, this is our art gallery, it starts from the front door.
This piece is one of my favorite pieces (editor’s note: points to an art piece made which features rock from the moon). Our media room, our bar, and our club room are all in one. I wanted something that was super functional.
I was talking to V Starr ‘Listen, team! I want something really functional as a karaoke place, so they gave me a little bit of a stage – I and Olympia sing on it often,” Serena described her home in the short video.
In exchange for the tour, Serena was featured on the cover of the magazine wearing a sparkling dress.
“I was moving away from Venus for the first time in my life, so I wanted it to be really meaningful,” Serena told Architectural Digest.
“You have to know your lane. I’m really good at playing tennis; I’m not as good at interiors. But I was able to learn through just watching Venus”. Lockdown or no lockdown, now Serena Williams has the house of her dreams ready to shelter her family and offer relaxation after tough tournaments.
