Camila Giorgi dedicates Montreal Masters title to her father

Italy's Camila Giorgi gave credit to her father after winning the biggest title of her career at the Montreal Masters. Giorgi, who entered Montreal as world No. 71, stunned fourth-seeded Karolina Pliskova 6-3 7-5 in the Toronto Masters final.

Giorgi claimed her maiden Masters title after beating Pliskova in the final. "I think one day I was sure and he was sure that can come in many period because I was playing very good actually. I was playing very high level already few months ago.

I think I was just believing in myself," Giorgi said, per Max Gao. "I been working all my life with my father. He's always been with me all the time. We are working hours and hours in the court. Of course, the results should come.

I believe it and he believe it, too. "I think this week was amazing week. Very happy to have this gift. Actually I dedicate to him because I have this for me because he dedicate many hours with me. Of course, this is when you dedicate all your work, I think one day comes beautiful things, you know?”

Giorgi explains her infamous quote

A few years ago, Giorgi said she doesn't follow tennis.

After winning Montreal, she was asked about that quote. "Actually, no. What I was saying is that when I'm off of the court I like to do other things. For example, my mom has a brand, Giomila, the one I'm wearing all the time, of course.

And I love fashion. This is for me it," Giorgi explained. "When I'm in the court, in the tournament, (I'm) very focused. I do my physical, everything. When I go home, there is other things in life, too. The beautiful thing that I think to be a woman, that you can wear things, just colors, different kind of dresses. This is I think even life."
