Daniil Medvedev: I don't see any reason to hide personality

Russia's Daniil Medvedev insists he is fully honest during his press conferences. Medvedev, ranked at No. 2 in the world, claims he doesn't want to hide anything or pretend. "Yeah, I think on press conferences I never hide anything.

If I feel like I should not say something or it's not appropriate to say it, just gonna get away from the question quite easily. If not, I don't see any reason to hide my personality, especially on press conferences," Medvedev said.

"On court it's different, because my goal is to win a match. So sometimes I can actually control or hide my emotions in order to win the match. Not in order to be loved or whatever. Never did anything for this. "Yeah, I like talking to you guys.

They ask me these questions several times. When some players said they are tired of talking to press or whatever, I feel like it's part of the job. I don't know if I would have done it if it would not be part of the job, but I like it and I feel comfortable with it."

Medvedev won the Toronto Masters

On Sunday, Medvedev beat Reilly Opelka 6-4 6-3 in the Toronto final. "I could not have dreamt of [this] at one point,” Medvedev said in his on-court interview. “With Masters, with Novak [Djokovic] and Rafael [Nadal] playing, it seemed like an untouchable achievement.

Now I have four wins in five finals, which is a good score. I am just happy. I want to achieve more. I am really happy I achieved this in Canada. “Even today, he [Opelka] showed up, he played some really good points. He was fighting until the end, he saved break points in crucial moments.

Playing your first [Masters 1000] final is not easy. I played my first in Canada and won only three games. ”Playing Canada and Cincinnati, the goal is to win as many matches as possible. I was able to do it two years ago and I will try and do it again”.
