Dominant Benjamin Bonzi reacts to winning record-tying sixth Challenger title in 2021

Rising Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi lifted his sixth Challenger title of the season after beating Mats Moraing in the Rennes Challenger final. Bonzi, 25, has now won three Challenger titles in as many weeks. Bonzi was Absecon fire over the last three weeks, winning three Challenger titles in front of his home fans in France.

Bonzi also made it all the way at the Challenger events in St. Tropez and Cassis. Bonzi now has a record-tying six Challenger titles on the season. Only three players in the past managed to win six Challenger titles on the season.

"This was incredible," said Bonzi, per the ATP website. "I knew it was not going to be easy against Mats, but I hung on. I was able to commit to my plan today and get an early lead in both tie-breaks. I thank my coach Lionel who has been with me all year.

And I thank the audience here in Rennes. The atmosphere was sick all week."

Bonzi claimed a tight win over Moraing

Bonzi, who is now enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 61 in the world, edged out Moraing 7-6 (3) 7-6 (3).

Moraing made a good start to the match, having broken Bonzi in the fifth game for a 3-2 lead. Bonzi saved two set points in the ninth game, before breaking back Moraing in the 10th game to eventually force an overtime. After saving set points, Bonzi dominated the tie-break to steal the opener.

Bonzi saved a break points in the second game of the second set but also failed to convert any of his two break points in the following game. Bonzi also dominated the second set tie-break to book a straight-set win. Facundo Mena joined Bonzi on the winners' circle as he beat Gonzalo Lama in the Quito Challenger final.

"It's an incredible feeling to win this title," said Mena. "I didn't know if I'd get back to this moment and it is very emotional for me."
