Rising Italian star Lorenzo Musetti, 19, reveals seeing the success of Emma Raducanu , Leylah Fernandez and Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open motivated him a lot. Raducanu, 18, and 19-year-old Fernandez clashed in the US Open final.
Raducanu made the Us Open final as a qualifier and ended up becoming the first ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam title. On the men's side, Alcaraz made his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at the age of 18. Musetti also played at the US Open but he didn't enjoy a deep run.
Musetti beat Emilio Nava in the first round, before losing to Reilly Opelka in the second round. “Emma Raducanu who won, Carlos is also 18-years-old,” said Musetti, per the ATP website. “I’m good friends with Leylah, it was unexpected, also for her.
We are 18, 19 [year]s in age, [and] it motivates me a lot… They played really well, they’ve trained really hard, everyone is sacrificing, but when you have talent and sacrifice, that’s a good combination.
They did it and they deserve what they achieved. I hope to join them”.

Musetti, 19, is currently sixth in the ATP Race To Milan list. Musetti is determined to qualify for the prestigious season-ending event for the players that are 21 and under.
Musetti, who made semifinals in Acapulco and Lyon this year, says it would be special for him to play in Milan. “I’m really looking forward to this [and] I hope to qualify,” said Musetti. “I think it would be really special for me to play in Milan, in front of a home crowd.
It’s not so far from my hometown [Carrara]. I think if I qualify, I’ll make sure it’s a good event for me. I’m trying to go forward as far as possible here to take points to qualify”.
