French tennis star Benoit Paire enjoyed visiting Babolat as he revealed he promised the French tennis equipment company that he would stop breaking rackets. Paire, a former world No. 18, is well-known for his on-court temper as he is a no stranger to breaking rackets.
"After the rain comes the good weather! I would like to show my gratitude to Babolat who faithfully supports me and to all the people who work on a daily basis so that I can play in the best conditions. Great experience for me to have spent time in the Babolat premises, and to have contributed to all the stages of preparing my equipment," Paire wrote in an Instagram post.
"PS I told them I was going to stop breaking rackets."
Paire made a positive start in Sofia
Paire is playing at this week's ATP 250 event in Sofia. In his opener at the tournament, Paire saw off seventh-seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4 7-5.
Paire, 32, is having his debut appearance on the indoor-hard courts of Sofia. “[I am] happy about the win,” Paire said in his on-court interview. “It was not easy. Alejandro is a very good player, so I had to be focused on my game.
I had to serve well and do my best and that is what I did and I am very happy and proud of my game today." Paire was glad that he managed to stay focused throughout the match and seal a straight-set win. “I played well in the first game, it was good for my confidence,” Paire added.
“The most important thing is to stay on my game and stay focused. I was solid today so I am very happy." Paire arrived to Sofia on a three-match losing streak. Paire, who made the Cincinnati Masters quarterfinal in August, delivered a good performance in his opener to surprise Davidovich Fokina and end his losing streak.
