World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas is excited to return to the Indian Wells Masters as he hopes to have the fans' support in the desert. Tsitsipas, 23, is set to make his third appearance at the Indian Wells Masters. Tsitsipas didn't enjoy success in his first two Indian Wells campaigns, losing both times in the second round.
Last year, the Indian Wells Masters was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. "Hey everyone, Stefanos here, guys it's exciting to be back. It's been a really long time since I've been back here. Please come support me, show some love, this week, next week, and all the time being here.
It's such a beautiful tournament to be competing in. Being back in Indian Wells just gives me good vibes. Support me and let's make this a hell of a ride," Tsitsipas said in a message posted on the tournament's Twitter account.
Tsitsipas last played at the Laver Cup
Tsitsipas was a part of Team Europe that dominated Team World 14-1 at this past Laver Cup in Boston. Team Europe featured six top-10 players and Tsitsipas felt privileged to be around so many top players.
"This experience is so extraordinary, with two incredible captains and players that are willing to give everything for this event. I feel privileged to be standing where I am at right now and to be learning from the best -- that happens to be my teammates," Tsitsipas said.
Also, Tsitsipas revealed his plans to take the vaccine. "It will certainly happen this year,” Tsitsipas said in an interview with Antenna TV. Asked if he would get vaccinated so that he could get back to a normal social life, Tsitsipas responded: “Yes, this is the reason”.
Last month, Tsitsipas said he wanted to see a better version of the vaccine. "I am not a doctor; I am a tennis player,” Tsitsipas said, “so I may not have the most substantiated opinion when it comes to medical issues."
