Leylah Fernandez: "Maria Sharapova gave me great advice"
This is my first time here in Indian Wells so I'm very excited. I have seen many games and many editions of this on television and I have heard many athletes say that it is one of the best events on the Tour.
As I said before, I am looking forward to playing my first match and being able to give my best in this tournament. I can get a very good result." Fernandez finally spoke about her meeting with Maria Sharapova. She said: "Sharapova gave me great advice.
I don't want to reveal anything about the conversation we had, because it's something very personal. What I can say is that Maria is a wonderful person. She told me about her experience with her and how she managed to recover and she is simply a great person, a source of inspiration for all the young girls who dream of being like her in the future." We'll see if Fernandez will be able to confirm her excellent form even in one of the most prestigious tournaments on the major circuit.
