World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev claims he was destroying everyone in practice at the Indian Wells Masters in 2020 and he thought he would win the tournament. Unfortunately for Medvedev, the tournament was called off just before the start due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Indian Wells Masters returned to the Tour this season and Medvedev is hoping to make a good result this year. “Usually I don't like the conditions here. But I felt good last year, just before the pandemic, because we were all here to prepare for the tournament.
And I was playing amazingly. I had lost a few games just before Indian Wells. So I was well prepared and I was playing amazingly in practice. I was destroying everyone but the tournament was canceled. I said to myself “maybe it was my year for Indian Wells,” Medvedev claimed, per We Love Tennis.
“I don’t know who’s the best,” Uncle Toni said, per Tennis Majors.

Medvedev has proved that he is capable of competing against the Big 3 and beating them. “Their high level is very similar; the problem is their low average level.
When Medvedev plays well, he is at the level of Nadal, Federer or Djokovic. What happens is that when he plays badly, his level drops a little more than that of Novak, Rafael, or Roger. Whoever manages to stabilize it will be the best of the [younger generation]," Nadal said.
Medvedev played lights out in the US Open final as he handed a straight-set defeat to world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. "I mean, he was hitting his spots very well. He came out very determined on the court. You could feel that he was just at highest of his abilities in every shot.
