Grigor Dimitrov reacts to achieving 100-wins mark at Masters 1000 level

Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov admitted that reaching the 100-wins mark at the Masters 1000 level means a lot to him. Dimitrov, ranked at No. 28 in the world, surprised world No. 12 Hubert Hurkacz 3-6 6-4 7-6 (2) to reach the Indian Wells semifinal.

"Having reached 100 wins in the Masters 1000 series means a lot to me. I did not know it until the end of the match, when it was mentioned to me. It is amazing and I only get words of thanks for everyone who they accompanied me on this path.

I am very lucky and especially knowing about the difficult years and the injuries I had. I really appreciate it," Dimitrov said after the win, per Punto de Break.

Dimitrov happy to have a day off

Dimitrov is coming off two exhausting matches, having beaten No.

1 seed Daniil Medvedev in three sets round earlier. Dimitrov was down by a set and two breaks before he created a stunning comeback against Medvedev. "I'm glad to have a day off this Friday (laughs). Despite how my body felt and everything, my mental state was very good and that really helps a lot and ends up favoring the body.

Again, I stayed in the match and I am very proud of that. I only try to take the positive of what I have done during the last two matches," Dimitrov noted. Dimitrov is having his first deep run in Indian Wells as in the past he never made it past the third round at the event.

Dimitrov will be fighting Cameron Norrie for a place in the Indian Wells final. Norrie has made five finals in 2021 and now he aiming to make his maiden Masters final in Indian Wells. “I am definitely not surprised to see Cameron Norrie in the semi-finals,” Dimitrov added.

“He has been playing great, very good matches. He is a very dangerous opponent and very crafty. It is not going to be an easy match my end”.
