Diego Schwartzman: One lady in Antwerp gives me chocolates after my matches

World No. 13 Diego Schwartzman reveals he feels comfortable in Antwerp from Day 1 and that has helped him reach the Antwerp final. Schwartzman, a former world No. 8, saw off rising American star Jenson Brooksby 6-4 6-0 to reach the Antwerp final.

"I feel very comfortable here since the day I arrived here. I know the people, I know the city, I even know the spectators. There is a lady who is like my grandmother here, she gives me chocolates after my matches," Schwartzman said, per Punto de Break.

Schwartzman enjoyed success in Antwerp in the past, having ended runner-up at the tournament in 2016 and 2017. "I'm very happy to be in the final. I love playing on these courts, I love playing indoors. I'm looking forward to a great final tomorrow," Schwartzman added.

Schwartzman plays Jannik Sinner in the final

“I am very happy to be in the final,” Sinner said in his on-court interview after beating Lloyd Harris. “He is having an incredible season, so best of luck for him to finish in the best possible way.

Thanks to the crowd for coming out today, it was a great atmosphere here. I just love playing here and love playing indoors, so hopefully I can play a great match again tomorrow”. Sinner is still in contention for a Nitto ATP Finals spot.

“It is a long way. There is still this tournament and then three to go. I have to play well in Vienna and well in Paris and there are other incredible players trying to get there. Hopefully this year, but if not I can be happy about my season," Sinner said.

Sinner recently won the Sofia title and he feels the conditions in Antwerp are very similar to the ones in Sofia. “The courts are very similar to Sofia, where I have won the tournament twice,” Sinner added. “I love playing here, I think I can move well here. I am happy about my level today”.
