Cameron Norrie; I gave my best shot to make Nitto ATP Finals, I'll go as alternate

No. 10 seed Cameron Norrie admitted world No. 26 Taylor Fritz was the better player during their Paris Masters round-of-16 clash. Norrie, who recently captured his maiden Masters crown in Indian Wells, was targeting a deep Paris run since he is in the hunt for a Nitto ATP Finals place.

Unfortunately for Norrie, his hopes of making a deep Paris run were crushed after Fritz handed him a 6-3 7-6 (3) loss. "Taylor was too good today. He's moving a lot better. He was consistant. He served well. Credit to him," Norrie said after the loss, per Tennis Majors.

Norrie's chances of making the ATP Finals slim to none

Norrie is aware that his chances of making the Nitto ATP Finals took a major hit following the Fritz loss. However, Norrie still plans to go to Turin as an alternate.

"It sounds too difficult for the ATP Finals. I gave my best shot. I'll go to Turin anyway because you have alternates. And then the Davis Cup. I'm not sure if I'll play Stockholm. It depends on (rivals') the results tomorrow. It's been a great season so far, anyway," Norrie added.

Norrie arrived to Paris determined to make a deep run and earn a spot at the Nitto ATP Finals. “I really want to make the top eight and be playing, competing,” said Norrie after beating Reilly Opelka in the Paris second round.

“There’s only two spots for basically the four of us, so I think it adds another element, and I really like that. Even to be in the conversation even this late in the year, means a lot to me and shows that I have made some improvements this year in my game… I want to play and I want to keep pushing and I want to give everything I've got and try and make that event."
