No. 1 Linz seed Emma Raducanu: Cool but I have never looked at seedings

World No. 20 Emma Raducanu claims she hasn't looked into the Linz seedings as she insists she is focused on trying to deliver her best tennis in her season finale. Raducanu, 18, accepted a wild card into Linz and she is set to make her debut at the tournament.

For the first time in her career, Raducanu is seeded at No. 1 in a WTA tournament draw. "It’s cool but I haven’t really looked at seedings. I never looked at seedings even when I was unranked, playing a seed in a tournament.

It meant nothing to me so I’m sure it means nothing to the other players,” Raducanu said, per Tennishead. “It’s just as much motivation if not more to take out a seed. I just really want to have fun this week and try and enjoy it because it’s the last one of the season and I feel like I’m really in a positive mind space”.

Raducanu hinted she has found a new coach

“I’m here on my own and being my own coach again this week, which I think is really good for me long term,” Raducanu told British reporters on Sunday. “And I’m really feeling positive about my coaching situation.

It’s in a good place. And yeah, for you guys, I’ll have a coach in place in the Australian Open." But Raducanu didn't want to reveal the name. “I’m going to have someone in place and I’m really excited to get some good work done in pre-season.

We’re going to have a really good time for sure but also, I feel like we’re going to get a good bit of work done. I think my game is going to be moving in the right direction, so I’m pretty excited for that.

“In the pre-season, when I start at the end of this month we’ll put some good work together and that’s probably when I’ll first get on court again. In the meantime, I’m just feeling good about things and where it’s going.

It’s just a bit confidential. I mean, it’s my decision. It’s not like fully done (but) it’s just in a good place."
