Barbora Krejcikova shows respect for opponents at WTA Finals

Czech tennis star Barbora Krejcikova insists she has a "very difficult" group at the WTA Finals but she is ready for the challenge. Krejcikova, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world, is set to make her debut at the WTA Finals.

Krejcikova captured her maiden Grand Slam title earlier this year at the French Open and now she is aiming to win her maiden WTA Finals title. However, that will be easier said than done as Krejcikova will be battling Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza and Anett Kontaveit in the group stage.

"I have in my group Karolina, Garbiñe, and Anett. Very, very difficult group. I'm just really looking forward to play all these girls because they are just amazing and they have really, really good results, just on top of the game right now," Krejcikova said, per WTA Insider.

Krejcikova last played at the Billie Jean King Cup

Krejcikova represented the Czech Republic at the Billie Jean King Cup and there she lost to former world No. 1 Angelique Kerber in her first match at the tournament. “To be here again, it’s a great feeling.

We played here the final a few years ago, it was such a great atmosphere, and today the energy on court was amazing,” said Kerber after the win. Despite the loss to Kerber, Krejcikova enjoyed playing in front of her home fans in Prague.

“It was amazing, it was extremely amazing,” Krejcikova said of her experience playing in front of her home crowd. “I think I was just really excited for this match and I think I was doing actually quite well.

At the end I was just a little bit short but I see it very positively; it’s a really good first step for me in this competition. “I love team matches, I’m just looking forward to gain more experience and to play more matches like this; I just want to represent my country and I love my country."
