Casper Ruud: Tough times are behind us, it's again fun to be Liverpool FC supporter

Casper Ruud, 22, went to Liverpool for a junior tournament and that was when he became a Liverpool FC fan. Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019, as well as the English Premier League in 2020. "When I was 10 years old I went to Liverpool to play a junior tournament with a Norwegian guy who arranged it to play against other British players on grass.

It was the first time I ever played on grass," Ruud said, per Tennis Majors. "Then he took us to the stadium. I bought the jersey of Fernando Torres when he played in the team many years ago now. From then it's just been natural for me to support them.

"Before Klopp arrived, there were some tough years. Since the arrival of Klopp, he has turned things around and it's fun years to be a Liverpool supporter. "If you ask me, I think the last month or two maybe Mohamed Salah has been the best player in the world, yes."

Ruud making progress at the ATP Finals

Ruud, who has won five ATP titles this year, is now two wins away from capturing his sixth title of the season. On Friday, Ruud recovered from a set down to beat world No. 5 Andrey Rublev 2-6 7-5 7-6 (5) and seal the final spot for the semifinal at the ATP Finals.

Rublev made a fast start to the match as he broke Ruud twice to comfortably win the opener. After easily winning the first set, Rublev broke Ruud in the third game of the second set. After a bad start to the match, Ruud started playing much better as he broke Rublev in the fourth and 12th game of the second set to force a decider.

Rublev was also up by a break in the third set but Ruud recovered to force a tie-break, in which he realized his second match point to complete a comeback win. Ruud will be fighting Daniil Medvedev for a place in the final at the ATP Finals.
