Italian Camila Giorgi finished in 34th position in the WTA world ranking and she will hardly forget the goal in Montreal. She was able to beat all the fierce competition and win the first WTA Master 1000 of her career. A very aggressive game, which adapts well to all surfaces, even if the best results were obtained on grass and hard-courts.
A mentality that at times betrayed her, but in other situations it helped her a lot to overcome the difficulties and obstacles that seemed insurmountable. The Italian will now have to make a further leap in 2022 and immediately approach the top 20.
The possibilities and spaces are all there to succeed. Camila recently received the award for best player of the year from Italian Tennis Federation: a recognition that confirms the potential and excellent performances offered on the court.
Camila Giorgi: "I'm inspired by Juan Martin Del Potro"
Camila Giorgi described her season and spanned her private life in an interview granted to La Stampa. She said: "I'm not going to stop here, my dream is to go up in the top ten of the ranking."
Tennis is a sport that combines physical and mental aspects: "On the court you have to be attentive and train your concentration. You must always be present to yourself and sometimes I think it's the heaviest part of being a professional player."
The passions after the racket: "Reading, I'm also passionate about writing. I like to vary. I'm studying to be able to write, I'd like to be able to take courses but now I just don't have the time. It's an idea that stays in the drawer," she said.
Then she concluded: "I am inspired by Juan Martin Del Potro, for me he is the strongest. And as a person in Nishikori, two colleagues that I like very much for the talent and for the results achieved. But as a child I cheered for Agassi."
