World No. 12 Cameron Norrie absolutely enjoys being a part of the British Davis Cup team as he insists all the players on the team get along really well. On Saturday, Great Britain kicked off his its campaign at the Davis Cup Finals.

In his first Davis Cup match since 2018, Norrie beat France's Arthur Rinderknech 6-2 7-6 (8) to seal victory for Great Britain over France. In the opening rubber of the tie, Dan Evans beat Adrian Mannarino. “For me, it is unbelievable to be back on the team playing for my country,” said Norrie, per the Davis Cup Finals website.

“I really like being in a team and being in this atmosphere. I’ve really enjoyed the week so far with everyone. It is also nice to prove myself again, to keep the pressure on and keep playing big matches. It’s exactly how I want to finish the year ahead of a big year next year."

Off the court, the British team does fun activities as that helps them relax and bring them together. “With regard to the team, we like to compete and we’ve been playing cornhole, with a tournament every night.

We also play darts. We’re playing Around the World doubles in the darts and Joe [Salisbury] probably rates himself as the best," Norrie added. “We have also been going to dinner, watching the other matches together and there’s been some good chat.

It’s just nice to be part of this team and nice for us to come together at the end of the year to share this moment. “This is a proper team. As I say, it’s a lot of fun off the court, and that really helps.

The team has each other’s back and it is just thoroughly enjoyable”. Norrie has had an outstanding 2021 season and he would like to cap off the year with a Davis Cup title.
