3 Ferrer and he was more than glad to receive advice and tips from the former world No. 3. “I went to Valencia for ten days two weeks ago, and I'm going to go back there for ten days. When I'm there, I train with Spaniards, Roberto Bautista-Agut, Carlos Taberner, Pablo Andujar.

And with David Ferrer, who gave me some advice. Part of it was to see him, and to listen to him, that I went there. He is someone I appreciate. He is kind and humble," Goffin told RTBF, as revealed on We Love Tennis.

Goffin hopes to play for 4-5 more years

Goffin had an injury-plagued 2021 season and he has been doing everything he can over the last few months to return to his best health-wise.

"I don't know, we'll see, but that's the goal, anyway. We are going step by step, season by season, but it is clear that all the work that I do, the rehabilitation of the knee, the strengthening, is not for six months.

This is to be able to play for several more years," Goffin noted. After the US Open, Goffin put an end to his season. "Hi guys, I wanted to tell you that I am ending my 2021 season," Goffin announced on Instagram.

"I have had knee pain for a long time and I need time to heal properly. I would like to fully recover from all the injuries I have had lately to come back stronger next year. I apologize to all the tournaments and fans but I will see you in 2022!"
