Miomir Kecmanovic blasts reporter over 'dumb' question after heartbreaking DC loss

Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic couldn't believe when a reporter asked him if he thought he didn't try hard enough in the key moments of his Davis Cup Finals clash against Mikhail Kukushkin. Kecmanovic suffered a heartbreaking loss at the Davis Cup Finals as Kukushkin saved four match points to beat the Serb 7-6 (5) 4-6 7-6 (11).

Still Serbia made the semifinal as Novak Djokovic beat Alexander Bublik in the following rubber, before Djokovic and Nikola Cacic beat Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov. "I don't what do you mean by 'I am not trying hard enough'? I played for three and a half hours, I don't know what I should do to make it look like that.

I'm trying. Of course I'm disappointed. I don't feel good, you let the team down in such an important match. But I gave my best. I hope the guys will give us another chance," Kecmanovic said after the loss, as quoted on B92,

Kecmanovic gave credit to his teammates

"The guys were great.

Krajinovic, Lajovic, Cacic and Djokovic, all of them rooted for me from the bottom of their hearts. I have enjoyed being a part of this team and everyone tried to help as much as possible. I'm thankful to them. I'm sorry I didn't bring them a point," Kecmanovic added.

Kukushkin is one of the most experienced players on the ATP Tour and he said it was a special win for him. “This kind of match for sure is going to be special in my life”, Kukushkin said afterwards. “I don’t even know what was the score in the tiebreak.

This is why we love Davis Cup, it’s about these kind of matches. I’m so honoured to play for my country. Our fans are the best in the world. They gave that kind of support for so many years. I was fighting a lot, it was such a difficult match”.
