Former world No. 17 Bernard Tomic said he will be more than happy to beat Nick Kyrgios again and keep his perfect record over him. Tomic beat Kyrgios in their lone meeting at the 2019 Kooyong Classic. Tomic said on Instagram a few days ago Kyrgios is a good player but he is better and mentioned the win he captured at the 2019 Kooyong Classic.
Kyrgios responded by saying he beat each member of the Big Three while Tomic can't boast about having wins over some of the world's greatest players. Also, Kyrgios found it funny that Tomic would even mention beating someone at an exhibition evemt.
"But just to set the record straight, he says I haven't beaten any of the top players," Tomic said, per Sportskeeda. "I've beaten Djokovic, Grand Slam champions Wawrinka, Cilic, Hewitt and most importantly, himself.
"Look, I'm more than happy to make it 2-0 whenever he wants. And all jokes aside I wish NK the best, good luck."
Kyrgios hit back at Tomic after the initial comments
“Where people play exhibitions - and yes he did beat me there once,” Kyrgios said on Instagram..
“But to say that he’s better? I have more titles. I don’t think he has any big scalp to his name, no Rafa, no Federer no Djokovic. To say that he’s better than me, it’s a bit of a stretch. “But we all know what BT’s capable of and I wish him the best.
“I ain’t no jealous person, I want success for everyone — so BT, we know what you are capable of brother, let’s see it”.
“I miss that sort of feeling”. Tomic has no doubt that he is better than Kyrgios. Asked who was better in their prime, Tomic replied with a thumbs up and cheeky grin: “I still am”.
