US Open champion Emma Raducanu revealed she is full of admiration for the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. "I think the Duchess is such a great inspiration, just with how she handles everything and how she does so much good work for charities.
She’s a real inspiration to the whole country," Raducanu told People Magazine. Raducanu played a doubles match with the Duchess of Cambridge following her stunning victory at the US Open. Raducanu found the experience of playing tennis with the Duchess of Cambridge as "surreal."
"It was a pretty surreal experience to be playing tennis with the Duchess," Raducanu admitted. "It was kind of crazy, but she was really down to earth and normal. So I found it a really cool experience”.
The Royal Family congratulated Raducanu
On Sunday, Raducanu won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. "Congratulations @EmmaRaducanu on a truly incredible year," the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tweeted.
"Thank you, it's such an honour just to be amongst these nominees. Congrats to you and all your achievements," Raducanu said after winning the award. Raducanu was grateful after winning the award and kept it respectful as she congratulated the other nominees on their achievements.
"I'm really happy with this, I've watched Sports Personality of the Year growing up and it's an honour to be amongst those past winners. "I'm happy for British tennis as well, and that we've managed to get this award...
again. "Thanks to all the fans and voters, this year has been insane. "I want to say thanks to my team, as well. "Congrats to the other nominees' teams as well, it's a team effort." Before the winner was announced, Andy Murray said Raducanu deserved to win the award.
"She created arguably one of the biggest sporting moments of the year, so yeah, she deserves to win. Anytime I won I always got accused of having no personality, she certainly is a fantastic personality. I hope she wins," Murray said last week.
