Renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou recalls first time seeing Stefanos Tsitsipas

Renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou recalled his first time seeing Stefanos Tsitsipas. When Mouratoglou arrived to the practice court, he asked one of the coaches his thoughts of Tsitsipas. "He is slow, his energy is insufficient, I do not see him becoming a very high level player, he plays well but his physique remains average," a coach replied to Mouratoglou, per We Love Tennis.

But Mouratoglou wasn't ready to give up on Tsitsipas as he said: "Thank you, but you are focusing on what Tsitsipas does not have and not the other way around and what he will also be able to acquire over time." Mouratoglou, who has been coaching an all-time great Serena Williams years, believes Tsitsipas is better in matches than in practice.

"Tsitsipas is better in matches than in training," Mouratoglou noted.

Tsitsipas wants to achieve great things

Tsitsipas is a Masters champion and has an ATP Finals title in his collection but he is lacking a Grand Slam title.

"I definitely embrace the pressure and make it a part of me. It's something that I strive for. Instead of becoming my enemy, it becomes my friend. I live and breathe for pressure. And that's when the best of things come," Tsitsipas said.

Tsitsipas was tipped by many to win a Grand Slam and potentially become a world No. 1. Tsitsipas, the 2021 French Open runner-up, is determined to win his maiden Grand Slam title next year. "Many people see pressure as a curse and something that is really negative and it's seen as something that's very difficult to deal with.

But I really see it on the bright side of things. I do feel like pressure is something that can lead to great things in life. Whether you're doing sports or anything else, having the opportunity to feel that pressure is incredible," Tsitsipas added.
