World No. 347 Paul Jubb reveals he is a good friend with Emma Raducanu and he described her as a "good girl with a nice personality." Jubb, who has never been ranked inside the top-300, messaged Raducanu after her stunning Us Open victory and he happy to see the 19-year-old still being humble enough to reply.
“Since I have been back full time at the National Tennis Centre, we’ve been around each other a lot more and we’re good friends. We always have a good laugh and good banter off court in between sessions and in the Players’ Lounge.
She's a good girl with a nice personality. And I’d like to think she is still the same person now. I messaged her my congratulations when she won in New York and she is still humble enough to reply. I definitely feel like she is the same," Jubb said of Raducanu, per Tennis Up To Date.
Raducanu getting recognized in Great Britain
Raducanu claimed several awards following her stunning US Open victory. One of the biggest awards came a week ago when Raducanu was announced as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
After winning the award, Raducanu showed her humble side and congratulated other nominees on their achievements. "Thank you, it's such an honour just to be amongst these nominees. Congrats to you and all your achievements," Raducanu said after winning the award.
"I'm really happy with this, I've watched Sports Personality of the Year growing up and it's an honour to be amongst those past winners. "I'm happy for British tennis as well, and that we've managed to get this award... again.
"Thanks to all the fans and voters, this year has been insane. "I want to say thanks to my team, as well. "Congrats to the other nominees' teams as well, it's a team effort."
