Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios said he is "probably one of thr only people in tennis in Australia" that stood up multiple times for Bernard Tomic. Tomic recently took cheeky shots at Kyrgios and Kyrgios wasn't a fan of it.
“I’m probably one of the only people in tennis in Australia that’s stood up for him multiple times,” Kyrgios told The Age. “I’ve done things for him, my family, my brother’s done things for him”.
Tomic is ranked at No. 260 in the world and that ranking is not good enough to make a main draw cut for an ATP event. “I’m not sure [if we will play each other this summer], but as far as I’m aware, I don’t think he is even in the Australian summer,” Kyrgios said.
“I haven’t seen his name anywhere, or what tournaments he is playing”.
The comments Tomic made about Kyrgios
“Obviously Nick is a good player, probably top six or seven servers in the world. Obviously beat him in Kooyong 6-3 6-4," Tomic said on Instagram.
“Because I train with him I pick where he’s serving and I know where he’s at so that style doesn’t really bother me”. Asked who was better in their prime, Tomic replied with a thumbs up and cheeky grin: “I still am." Where people play exhibitions - and yes he did beat me there once,” Kyrgios said on Instagram..
After hearing Tomic's comments, Kyrgios reacted but kept it respectful as he wished Tomic nothing but the best. “But to say that he’s better? I have more titles. I don’t think he has any big scalp to his name, no Rafa, no Federer no Djokovic.
To say that he’s better than me, it’s a bit of a stretch. “But we all know what BT’s capable of and I wish him the best. “I ain’t no jealous person, I want success for everyone — so BT, we know what you are capable of brother, let’s see it."
