Ellen Perez reflects on breaking news about Garbine Muguruza having Olympic tattoo

Ellen Perez was entertaining fans with her quarantine shenanigans a year ago but that should not come as a surprise since Perez is someone who loves to joke around and make others laugh. Perez, ranked at No. 196 in the world, didn't make the main draw cut for the Australian Open but she is one of the candidates to receive an Australian Open wildcard.

Venus Williams, who was awarded a wildcard into the Australian Open, pulled out of the event so the organizers have one more wildcard to gift. "I’ve always loved a bit of banter and joking around, and sometimes I’m the person who’s giving away free stuff,” Perez said, per The Herald Sun.

“As tennis players, we obviously work hard but we have a fair bit of free time when we get home and I just enjoy getting amongst it online”.

Perez revealed Garbine Muguruza had an Olympic tattoo

A few months ago, Perez broke the news about Muguruza having an Olympic tattoo.

Perez enjoyed a good 2021 season as she made her Grand Slam debut and Olympic debut. “I didn’t realise it was such a big deal,” Perez said. “We were talking about who had Olympic tattoos and I just knew Muguruza had one, because I’d seen it in the locker room.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Wait, where’s the tattoo?’ … and people suddenly said she liked to cover up her tattoos and they’re always very, very hard to see”. Perez is happy with the state of the women's tennis in Australia and said she would be okay if she had to play qualifying at Melbourne Park.

“We’ve got so many girls so close who’ve had such a good year and everyone’s putting up their hand for their own reasons,” Perez said. “I’m definitely prepared to play qualifying but if I was to get one, that’s just a bonus”.
