Venus Williams talks importance of not being afraid to try something new

Former world No. 1 Venus Williams says if you have an idea or want to try something new you should definitely go for it as coming out of your comfort zone can lead to beautiful things. Williams has had lots of success when it comes her tennis career but in recent years she has started exploring off-court interests.

Williams is now a founder of several businesses as she didn't want to limit her potential to only tennis. "If you want to try something different, don't be afraid," Williams said in an interview with fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar, per Sportkeeda.

"The way you get better or succeed is in an uncomfortable place. The times when we think about how we got better, those moments when you got better and you improved and you achieved something, it wasn't because it was super comfortable.

It was because you actually pushed yourself, and kinda got outta your comfort zone. That's where success lies."

In the same interview, Venus revealed that one of things she has always admired about Serena is that she always strives to be the best no matter what she is doing.

"Usually in one family there’s one good player and then the other one is not that great. And I think people told Serena she wouldn’t be great," Venus said. "The fearlessness with which she approached the game was something I’ve always really admired.

She doesn’t accept second. She explicitly told me herself that she plays for first place”. Also, Venus admitted that she has learned a lot from Serena, even though she is younger of the two. "My role models are always my parents and very close to home Serena," Venus said.

"Even though she was younger than me I learned so much from her, I learned courage and I learned heart. I had talent but I didn't necessarily have those two. So those role models were always very close to home for me."
