Iga Swiatek comments on beating Naomi Osaka in Miami final

New world No. 1 Iga Swiatek said playing Naomi Osaka in the Miami Masters final was exciting as she admitted she wanted to deliver a big time performance because she knew the final would draw lots of attention. Swiatek perfectly executed her game plan as she handed Osaka a 6-4 6-0 loss to win her first Miami title.

Also, it was Swiatek's 17th consecutive win and third consecutive title. Swiatek, who won her first Indian Wells title two weeks earlier, became only the fourth player on the WTA Tour to complete the Sunshine Double.

"Playing against Naomi in a final was pretty exciting, and I knew that the world is going to watch, because it's a nice match just to follow," Swiatek said, per the WTA Tour website. "I wanted to give the best tennis I can so people actually can be satisfied.

But on the other hand, just seeing that I can play that well against such a player is really satisfying."

Swiatek 'proud' of herself

Swiatek has now won her last 17 matches and she is ranked at No. 1 in the world.

"I just feel really satisfied and fulfilled and also proud of myself," Swiatek admitted. "I feel like I have got to celebrate, because I don't know how long I can keep up with this streak." During the Sunshine Double, Swiatek was winning and learning new things about herself.

"I learned a lot about myself, that I can keep going, and really I don't need to feel like 100 percent on points to win matches against great players," Swiatek said. "I can trust myself a little bit more right now.

I really used that streak to have more confidence, and also the ranking." Swiatek will now take some time to rest and then kick off her clay season in Europe.
