This week, Korda kicked off his clay season.

In his first clay match of the year, Korda defeated Botic Van de Zandschulp in the Monte Carlo Masters first round. After a solid win over Van de Zandschulp, Korda delivered a great performance in the second round to stun Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (2) 6-7 (5) 6-3.

Korda and Alcaraz are considered as one of the brightest players on the tour and they put up a show in Monte Carlo. “It was nice to get the victory today, Korda said in his on-court interview after beating Alcaraz.

“I stayed calm and believed in my returning. It was super tough, every time he threw up the ball it moved around. It was a crazy match”. Unfortunately for Korda, he failed to back up his win over Alcaraz as he lost to Taylor Fritz in his following Monte Carlo match.
