Kevin Anderson says goodbye to the world of tennis at the age of 35 year-old after a career in which he has had several important satisfactions on the world Tour. The South African ended his career as a professional player with 7 ATP titles, two Grand Slam finals (one at the US Open in 2017 and the other at Wimbledon in 2018, remedying a defeat by Serbian Novak Djokovic).

His farewell

The announcement on social media: "My father told me that success is not defined by results, but by the commitment you put on the path to becoming the best version of yourself. I gave my best. There are so many people who have helped me, who believed that a child born in South Africa could make his dreams come true," he commented.

Then he added: "Thanks to my mother and father, I am eternally grateful to you for the countless hours you have. spent training, for the sacrifices you made, but above all for the continued belief in me. I wouldn't be here without you.

Thanks to my brother Greg, you have been here by my side every step of the way. Thanks to my family in the South African Federation and beyond, there has never been a time when I lacked your love and support. Thanks to Jay Bosworth for his generous commitment to me - you are a coach, a mentor and most of all a friend.

Thanks to the University of Illinois who played an important role in helping me go from junior to pro. Thanks to all my teammates, coaches and the entire Illinois tennis community. I've learned so much from so many people along the way.

I am extremely grateful to the incredible coaches, agents, physiotherapists, athletic trainers, mental coaches who have helped me realize my potential to the fullest and make my dreams come true over the years.
