Magda Linette comments on shock win over No. 6 seed Ons Jabeur at RG

Poland's Magda Linette said she knew what to expect from Ons Jabeur and revealed one of her focuses was to be "mentally tough" versus the sixth-seeded Tunisian. Linette, 30, entered the match as the big underdog but she competed extremely hard and it paid off as she claimed a shock 3-6 7-6 (4) 7-5 win over Jabeur.

Leading up to the French Open, Jabeur made back-to-back WTA 1000 finals in Madrid and Rome. Jabeur was considered among top favorites for the French Open title but Linette sent her packing out of Paris after the first round.

"I lost to her last year here and then this year in Miami, so I kind of knew what to expect," Linette told WTA insider. "I had some sort of a plan, but I just knew that she was really on fire this time and I would just really need to play point by point, be really mentally tough”.

Linette was on the brink of losing but still managed to beat Jabeur

Jabeur was up by a set, had a 4-3 lead in the second set, and three consecutive break points in the eighth game.

Linette somehow saved three consecutive break points - managed to force a tie-break - which she won to send the match into a decider. In the third set, Linette claimed the first break of the set in the sixth game but got broken back in the seventh game.

Jabeur had three consecutive game points in the 12th game of the third set but Linette won five consecutive points from that moment to break the Tunisian and complete a big comeback win. “It was tough today. I gave it all and she had her momentum on court, she didn't give me too many options and I felt that she had an answer to all my shots and she played very well in the important moments," Jabeur told WTA insider.
