Kasatkina interrupts Gauff interview to steal Coco's "qualifying energy"

Daria Kasatkina barged in during a Coco Gauff interview to steal some "qualifying energy" from the American, who recently grabbed her spot in the WTA Finals. "Was interviewing Coco Gauff and Daria Kasatkina walks up and puts her hand on Coco's shoulder and stands still.

'I'm taking the qualifying energy'," WTA insider writer Courtney Nguyen tweeted.

Coco Gauff beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the first round of Guadalajara.

Now, the American has to face Italian player Martina Trevisan. Kasatkina still has hopes for qualifying in the Finals. Her next match in Guadalajara is against Anna Kalinskaya. Related: Daria Kasatkina reveals for what scenario she was ready after coming out as gay.

Kasatkina feels the pressure of qualifying for WTA Finals

Daria Kasatkina admits that she is sensing the pressure of knowing that she has her best-ever opportunity to qualify for the WTA Finals "As much as I was trying to push away the thought of the Finals, to trick myself, I cannot.

I just have to accept this pressure and face it the way I can. It's the first time I actually have a chance to compete, not as an alternate, so it's stressful. But the way I am doing on the court, I'm pretty happy. I'm not in a bad position.

And after this match I'm in an even better position. That's why this was a really important one and now I feel I put the heavy backpack down," Kasatkina told WTA Insider. Kasatkina has had a good season and she is hoping her year gets rewarded with a maiden WTA Finals appearance.

"This pressure is good. If at the end of 2019 someone tells me in three years you're going to have the pressure to go to the WTA Finals to play, I would say are you kidding me? I cannot believe it. So far it's a very good problem to have," Kasatkina added.
