Jannik Sinner: Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the best, I train for these matches

Jannik Sinner is excited about playing Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open as he noted those are the kind of matches he is training for. Sinner, ranked at No 16 in the world, is set to face fourth-ranked Tsitsipas in the Australian Open round-of-16.

Last year, Sinner suffered a straight-set defeat against Tsitsipas at the Australian Open. Overall, Tsitsipas owns a 4-1 head-to-head against Sinner. "I'm looking forward to playing these kinds of matches. He's one of the best in the world, but I've definitely changed my game a bit.

These matches are the reason I train. Let's see how it goes this year," Sinner said of facing Sinner, per Luca Fiorino.

Sinner staged a comeback to set a Tsitsipas clash

Sinner, seeded at No 15, survived a major scare in the Australian Open third round as he recovered from two sets down to beat Marton Fucsovics.4-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-0.

"For sure the first two sets were very tough for me. Obviously I had to change something in my game after the two sets. I was feeling the ball quite well in the beginning, but the final shots I was missing a little bit. Tactically I was not so good," Sinner said after beating Fucsovics, per the ATP website.

After losing the first set, Sinner raised his level and absolutely dominated Fucsovics in the rest of the match. "The first two sets I think he was playing very well. I went on court with one tactic and I had to change a little bit, obviously going a bit more to his backhand," Sinner said.

Now, Sinner is set to face Tsitsipas once again. Against Tsitsipas, Sinner hasn't had much success. In 2020 Rome, Sinner defeated Tsitsipas in their second meeting. Since then, Sinner has picked up three consecutive defeats against Tsitsipas. It remains to be seen if Sinner can end his negative run against Tsitsipas.
