Gilles Simon: 'Rafael Nadal can win a Slam even if injured'

The Frenchman Gilles Simon spoke on a Twitch channel talking about Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Simon spoke in a Twitch chat with his countryman Gael Monfils, and he commented on the recent performances of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Many have criticized the now usual statements of the two with reference to physical problems with Nole and his team who had even declared that the tennis player had won the tournament with important physical problems. Simon was clear and stated as follows: "I reached the third round and the round of 16 with important physical problems, in Australia I reached the third round and went out on crutches.

I think that despite everything I had reached my level. Rafa and Novak are Grand Slam champions and can win even if they are at 70%. They are so superior now that they can win despite the injuries."

Djokovic stared his 2023 in the best posisble way

2023 has so far been a very important year for the world of tennis.

At the Australian Open we saw the return to Melbourne and the umpteenth victory of his career by Novak Djokovic. The Serbian champion, at 35, has beaten anyone in his path, leaving crumbs to his opponents. A clear showdown also highlighted in the final where Nole beat the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets, a match without history.

Once again Nole has demonstrated his excessive power and the last 5 Grand Slams have always been won by Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal with the only exception of the young Carlos Alcaraz at the 2022 US Open. On this occasion, however, the Serbian tennis player was absent due of the Covid restrictions while Rafa was grappling with obvious physical problems.

Years go by, but not much seems to change on the Tour and, without the now retired Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal dominate the most important tournaments and on all surfaces. We recall, at least untill now, Djokovic can play the Indian Wells and the Miami Open ATP Masters 1000s, but he will playb the US Open 2023, after last season abn.
