Mats Wilander said Iga Swiatek can win Wimbledon

Iga Swiatek has never managed to get beyond the round of 16 at Wimbledon. The WTA number one has proven she can dominate her opponents on both clay and hard courts, but her style of play doesn't quite suit the unpredictability of grass courts.

The goal of the Polish tennis player is precisely to take a decisive step forward on this surface. Mats Wilander, in an interview with Eurosport, believes that Swiatek will have the chance to win Wimbledon on more than one occasion.

Wilander: "Iga Swiatek can win Wimbledon"

Wilander: "She will never become a better player on grass than on the other two surfaces, but that doesn't mean she can't win Wimbledon. I think she understands that she will never feel completely comfortable on grass, but she will definitely learn to play Better.

Her dream shouldn't be to win Wimbledon six or seven times, but she has to believe she can win the tournament. She needs to keep developing her game about her. No one feels completely comfortable with her on grass. Iga remains a threat on this surface as well and she can win Wimbledon multiple times." Last year, Swiatek was defeated by Alize Cornet in the third round by a score of 4-6, 2-6.

At the end of the match with the Frenchwoman, Swiatek explained: "I try to always be aggressive, but on grass I can't control the ball as I would like. I hope I can improve on this surface. I don't have the same confidence compared to the games I play on other surfaces.

I thought things would be different this year, because I worked a lot. I'm sorry, we'll see what this surface will give me in the coming seasons." Swiatek will then try to achieve a career-best finish on the All England Club's lawns this year after winning the Roland Garros for the third time.
