Daria Kasatkina finally reveals what she really thinks of Ukrainian players

Daria Kasatkina immediately sided against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russian tennis player has condemned the war in Ukraine and her country has turned against her. The tennis player is a player who is between the top 10 and the top 20 of the WTA ranking, and she has always imposed herself on the big stages.

However, since Putin's Russia invaded the Ukrainian country and since she came out, a fact condemned by Russian laws, she is the sportswoman who courageously spoke out against Putin's government. Present in Palermo for the WTA 250 tournament, the world number 11 was interviewed by the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, where she talked precisely about this position taken by her, not common to all her colleagues, countrywomen and countrymen.

She explained: "I just made my own choices. I wanted to look in the mirror and not be ashamed of myself. Now I'm paying for the consequences of my decision, it's something adults have to deal with. I'm not in a position to judge.

There's who has family there and has decided not to pay the same consequences that I am paying."

On the Women's Tour, it has become customary for Ukrainian tennis players not to shake hands when a Russian or a Belarusian is on the other side of the net.

It also happened to Kasatkina, when she didn't shake Svitolina's hand in Paris. She just raised her finger at her Ukrainian opponent, who thanked him for her gesture. It has become an unwritten rule, although the crowd present in the stands of tennis tournaments do not seem to have understood it yet.

Daria finally told what she really think about that issue, explining what was the bad said of the missing handshake: "The choice of the Ukrainians? It's their position and I can understand it. What's not nice is that then the crowd will boo you."
