Bianca Andreescu opens on her fragility: "You see a negative comment and it's over"

Bianca Andreescu was eliminated in the first round of the Citi Open 2023 by the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, in a match that lasted two hours and 43 minutes.
She will now play at the National Bank Open in Montreal, where she will try to overcome her last disappointing performances.

The Canadian former US Open winner recently talked about the balance amongs social media, pressure, well-being and her happiness, during the No Challenges Remaining podcast. Andreescu said, as reported by Sportskeeda: "Social media changed so much.

And I feel like the focus is so much on that with sponsors and having to keep up with your fans and all of that. But then you end up seeing a negative comment, but you also see all these positive ones, but then you see that negative one and it's over." The Canadian then added: "I feel that for me, if I stay away as much as I can from social media, if I surround myself with people that I know I can trust because that's also hard when you get to a point.

I can list all people who've won grand slams, but haven't found it easy to replicate either immediately or eventually the expectations catch up with you and the pressure catches up with you from internal, external, everything.

And personally, I'm not the biggest fan. It really sucks your energy as well."

Andreescu on the Wimbledon final

The Canadian previously also talked about the Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, in an exclusive interview with TSN.

Andreescu said: "Carlos Alcaraz? I know he had already won the US Open, but Wimbledon is different: that's another story. His path definitely motivates me and he's only 20 years old. Carlos is a great inspiration for everyone.

He struck me the athletic and physical form shown by both in the final was very strong. The way they manage to play: even on grass their rallies are 15-20 shots longer. They serve and respond great. I think there were about 10 wrong answers in total from both of us during the whole game."
