It was a traumatic experience for me when I was younger. But I sure am glad I had the chance to know them. I haven't met Mikaela yet because she's always on tour like me and it's hard to find the time. They are a great source of inspiration for me.
I feel like our sports are kind of connected, because those are the only two sports where I feel individual, like the women have, I don't know, the same events and the same pace as the guys."
Iga Swiatek enjoyed New York
On the positives and negatives of this tournament, the 22-year-old told: "Every year I feel I can handle the pressure a little more.
Right now it doesn't seem like it's hard to concentrate, so I really like noise and crowds and it gives me a lot of energy. On the contrary, I don't like the traffic!" The Polish tennis player concluded by talking about her recovery after the efforts of Cincinnati: "Every match was very intense in Cincinnati.
Sometimes I had to come back after being in difficulty. The effort was both mental and physical. Also because, you know, it's the second half of the season and so you already feel like you've played so many matches and so many tournaments that it takes a while to recover from the first half of the season.
But I enjoyed these days when I didn't have to do the whole warm-up routine. I also went into town and enjoyed New York a bit."
