Carlos Alcaraz is playing in the Asian Swing, at the ATP 500 in Beijing, the Spanish tennis player's first appearance after the defeat against Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final of the US Open. In the first round match against the German Hanfmann, the number one seed found himself twice down by a break in the first set, but by raising his level of play he managed to come back in the first set, dominating in the second and closing with the score by 6-4 6-3.
In the round of 16 the 20 year old from Murcia will face Lorenzo Musetti. In the press conference the Spaniard talked about his return to the court and commented on the recent statements of Rafael Nadal, who had expressed his intention to play a possible fairytale doubles pairing with Alcaraz at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Carlos Alcaraz: “Having my family by my side is very important”
The current world number two spoke about the importance of his family for his path, including the presence of his brother in many tournaments on the circuit.
He explained: "It's very important to me to have my family by my side. I'm very lucky to be able to take part of my family with me and travel all over the world. Traveling all year round, I don't spend as much time as I would like home with them, and knowing I have part of my family with me makes it easier for me to feel good during tournaments.
It's very, very important. Family members are the people you can count on the most, it is very important to have a good relationship with them and, in my case, to have their support throughout my career."
The Spaniard then expressed his desire to be able to play together with Rafa Nadal at the next Olympics: "Right now Rafa is suffering a lot.
I hope he can go back to training and that he can play next year from the start, in order to have a Rafa healthy and ready for the Games. Of course it would be a dream for me to play doubles with him in Paris. It depends on both of you.
There are many months left in Paris and a lot can happen. I have to be healthy, work hard and be ready for this tournament, he has to do the same. We'll see what happens, but it's clear that it would be a dream."
