Filippo Volandri, Italian Davis Cup captain, expressed some interesting statements about the Italian number one Jannik Sinner, in an interview with Sky Sport. Volandri underlined how at the moment only Novak Djokovic is superior to the Italian talent.

"What I liked about yesterday's victory is that Jannik interpreted it differently compared to Beijing. In Asia he was perfect tactically, trying to make many serves and volleys and putting many different things into play. Yesterday, however, he beat the Russian where he is strongest.

He always played a very aggressive game, but more from the back. Who is superior to Sinner at the moment? Novak Djokovic. Because he has such great experience that he knows how to handle any type of situation. Jannik though certainties are being built, the result of results and a different physique from last year.

A progress in all the fundamentals that was noticed on serve, especially when he found himself managing the important points," said Volandri.

Sinner will play in Paris Bercy

Sinner will take to the court this week at the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy.

The first seed present in Sinner's path is Alex de Minaur, capable of overcoming a 2-5 deficit in the third set against former ATP number one Andy Murray. Sinner won the tenth title of his career, the second consecutive victory against Daniil Medvedev, a record number of trophies for an Italian tennis player in the Open Era, like Adriano Panatta.

Jannik provided all tennis fans with proof of his worth by winning the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna. The Italian won one of the most exciting finals of the season by beating the Russian with a score of 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-3; opponent who had defeated him six times out of six before the final played at the China Open a few weeks ago.

A victory that gives Sinner further confidence ahead of the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup; Italy will challenge the Netherlands in the quarter-finals on November 23rd.
