Italy and Serbia will face each other in a few hours in the Davis Cup semi-final, in a match that will face Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner against each other for the third time in ten days. Team Italy captain Filippo Volandri will have to decide who to court in the first and fundamental singles match: the ballot concerns Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Sonego.

"It would have been a different match against Great Britain. They are two totally different teams. In the case of Serbia we are talking about two very strong singles players and a more accessible doubles team. We are confident and happy, because on the eve of the match it wasn't so obvious to beat the Netherlands.

They put us in great difficulty and we lost the first singles, wasting three match points. That could have weighed a lot, but the boys were good at overturning it. There could be a Djokovic-Sinner 3.0. I think it's good for everyone: for Jannik who is still testing himself and for everyone who will watch a special match.

We will play chess with the two captains on the field, therefore with a broader vision. Both Nole and Jannik arrived late and did little testing on the pitch before their matches. He also unleashed his inner fire against Great Britain.

I'm sure it will be a very, very good match. Captain is a complicated role. You have important responsibilities. You always have to make considerations. The choices may be right or wrong, but the commitment and study are enormous.

I always try to do my best," Volandri told Sky Sport.

Djokovic and Sinner face each other for the third time in ten days

The Serb and the Italian will face each other for the third time in the space of twelve days. The first two matches were played at the Nitto ATP Finals: Sinner won the Round Robin match, Djokovic the final.

The context will be completely different, because the Davis Cup is one of those competitions capable of overturning the situation and providing sudden twists. Italy and Serbia will try to conquer the last act of the most important team event in a match that promises to be spectacular.
