Jannik Sinner is the tennis player of the month, after his amazing performances at the ATP Finals and now the Davis Cup Finals. Thanks to Jannik, Italy reached the eighth Davis Cup final in its history by beating Serbia 2-1.

At the press conference, the Italian tennis captain Filippo Volandri talked about the upcoming challenge, the victory against Serbia and Sinner's performances. "This result comes from afar, if I think about the match against Canada and where we are today it means a lot.

After the second singles I was happy, I told the boys that we would play until the end. Jannik was amazing for the match points disallowed and for how he played the doubles. We had awareness, we were good," explained Volandri to Sky Sport.

The captain, in the press conference, then added: "Jannik is our strong point. He gives us a lot of energy and confidence. He is not only a great player, but also a great person. That's the thing I like about him. I think he will play tomorrow!

Australia is a different team to Serbia. Perhaps they are more similar to Holland considering both singles and doubles. But we have to think about ourselves, enjoy this day and be focused for tomorrow's final."

Sinner make a masterpiece against Djokovic

One step away from defeat, Sinner reacted like a champion and canceled out three consecutive match points against Novak Djokovic, beating the Serbian champion in singles for the second time in ten days.

The Serbian rarely lost matches like this, but Sinner achieved a one-of-a-kind milestone. In doubles, the Italian tennis player then completed the job together with an extraordinary Lorenzo Sonego. Filippo Volandri had decided to focus on Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego in the previous match against the Netherlands and he was right again.

The Italian captain has often received excessive criticism, but he has always responded with work and is very close to a historic victory. In the final of the tournament, however, we will have to pay attention to Alex de Minaur's Australia. Three of the six defeats suffered by Italy in the final came against the Australians.
