Italy came back to win the Davis Cup after 47 years the last time, achieving a historic success, the second in the history of Italian tennis, overcoming complicated challenges and building a group of united players. And Jannik Sinner was the star at the center of the Italian tennis galaxy.

The young ATP world no.4: he dominated the match with Alex de Minaur who allowed the Italians to beat Australia 2-0 and lift the trophy to the sky At the press conference, Jannik shared with the media all his emotion after achieving this milestone. "This success is particular and special.

We've known we had a great group for a couple of years now. We've managed to put the pieces together. Matteo Berrettini had a very difficult season due to injuries, but I want to underline the fact that he was here with us and he supported us.

This is the most important thing: being a team. We are happy to be able to raise this special cup. I thank all the Italians, the public who believed in us even when things were difficult. I brought a lot of energy from Turin and we made an even bigger group.

I'm really happy. We have already suffered in Bologna, but we have always remained there. Yesterday against Serbia we were just one point away from defeat and now we lift the Cup."

Volandri praises Jannik's super performances

Filippo Volandri, captain of the Italy team, added on Sinner's performances: "It must be said that Jannik really gave us a lot of things and better yet there isn't even all the time to explain how much he gave us.

But all the guys who are here and even those who aren't here right now have given a lot. That's why we did it, that's why we won this trophy. We had some problems, there were emergencies and big difficulties but in the end we made it." Italians won the title in the presence of Nicola Pietrangeli, non-playing captain of the first Italian triumph, in 1976 in Chile. Also present in Malaga was the president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation Angelo Binaghi.
