Carlos Alcaraz has shown his enormous talent between 2022 and 2023, but is it enough to compare the young Spaniard to the Big 3 Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer? The former Spanish tennis player Feliciano Lopez spoke out on this topic, which this year - especially after Carlitos' victory at Wimbledon - has flared up among the tennis media, insiders and fans.

During an interview granted to the Spanish newspaper AS, the current CEO of the Mutua Madrid Open analyzed Alcaraz's great skills but, regarding the comparison with the Big 3, Feliciano underlined how they have achieved something unique.

"At his age he has already won two Majors and he was number 1 in the ATP world ranking. He's one of those players who comes out every few years, but obviously we tend to compare him to Roger, Rafa and Novak. People don't really realize how much the Big 3 have achieved.

What would happen if Alcaraz won 15 Slams? Would that be a big deal? The fact is that, until recently, Pete Sampras had 14 Slam titles. Then a Spanish boy from Manacor arrived (Nadal - ed.) and he won 14 titles in the same Slam tournament (The Roland Garros - ed.)," explained Lopez.

Feliciano then compared the Big 3 to stars from other sports. "I lived these moments, I faced them. What happened will not be repeated. The probability is very low. We have to do a pedagogical exercise and say that it is unreal to see three Michael Jordan together, every 15 years," he underlined.

Lopez concluded by highlighting Alcaraz's great tennis skills by stating: "Alcaraz is incredibly good. I have no explanation for those three. How to tell someone who dreams of becoming a tennis player, of winning a Slam, that there is someone, Nadal, who has won the Roland Garros 14 times.

Let's enjoy Alcaraz and his career. Time will tell whether he will win 10, 12 or 13 Slams, but let's value what he has done. I haven't seen any other player his age play so well. I don't know if Roger played like Carlos when he was 20."
