Andrey Rublev, one of the most anticipated tennis players of the season, started 2024 by winning the Hong Kong Open. The Russian tennis player won the 15th title of his career, beating Emil Ruusuvuori in the final, thus starting off on the right foot in a season in which he will try to break some taboos in his career. The final in Hong Kong was a hard-fought one, won by the Russian with the final score of 6-4 6-4: and it is thanks to this victory that Rublev won his 10th hard court tournament. Now, Andrey will try to do what he has never managed to do in past seasons: reach his first Slam semi-final, a milestone that he will try hard to achieve in 2024.

Rublev, against players who are not in the ATP Top-50, has achieved 9 victories in a row. The last defeat came against the current number 69 in the world ranking. The biggest difficulties for Andrey this week came from the two matches preceding the final, against Arthur Fils and Juncheng Shang, which pushed him to the third set. After this victory, Rublev will take a week off to present himself at his best at the first big event of the year, in Melbourne, the Australian Open, where he wants to break the curse of the quarter-finals and try to raise his performances even against the tennis players of ATP Top 50.

"I think I played at a high level in the final. This will give me more confidence for the Australian Open," he told. Among the most prestigious results of his career is the title at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters 2023, obtained in the final against Holger Rune. Rublev also won the Olympic gold medal at Tokyo 2020 in mixed doubles, together with his countrywoman Anastasija Pavlyuchenkova.
